In July 1941, the advancing Finnish troops saw a T-50 for the first time. Later that year, they managed to capture one of these ultra-rare tanks near Äänislinna or in Petrozavodsk (Петрозаводск ) in Russia.
The captured tank was one of fifty tanks manufactured at Voroshilov Factory No. 174 in St. Petersburg. The tank was repaired and put into service in Finland under the registration number R-110 in February 1942.
It was oddly assigned to a heavy tank company. But it was quickly transferred to the 3rd Tank Company of the Tank Brigade in March 1942. It was later used as a command tank in the same company.
The maintenance of this unique tank proved difficult, but it remained in service until June 25, 1944.
Although it was no longer in serviceable condition since June 1944, it remained in the reserve of the Finnish Army until 1955, and to this day, the T-50 "Niki" is in the Finnish Tank Museum in Parola.
